Underground Media is a NYC based production company founded by filmmaker/musician Matt Rocker. Rocker has experience in every facet of production: beginning with music and sound production on films such as "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the art-house classic "Cremaster 3" by Matthew Barney. Along the way he's tried his hand at acting, performed at CBGB's and conducted an orchestra of his own composition at Lincoln Center. Most recently he has begun shooting/editing and directing documentary shorts and features. His vast experience gives him a unique perspective and insights on any project, whether building a team or executing a vision.
Underground Media is our team of camera, sound, and lighting techs who capture the magic on set, as well as our editorial crew of editors, colorists, and graphic and motion designers.
Underground Audio is the studio that started it all. Located in the east village of manhattan, the space has been a hidden oasis for music and film sound for the past 15 years. In 2015 Underground Media was born, as the studio expanded to a 2nd location housing a color/online suite, production offices and additional audio facilities.
The picture team is supervised by Pedro J. Padilla. Pedro is a cinematographer and colorist with over 14 years of experience collaborating with independent filmmakers, commercial advertising campaigns, episodic television producers and music video artists. He’s originally from the Dominican Republic, raised in New York City and is a graduate of the Northwestern University film program.
As a colorist, his work has been featured in projects that have screened at the Tribeca, Toronto, Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals and streamed on Netflix and Amazon Prime. His television work includes documentary and unscripted projects broadcast on ESPN, PBS, The Atlantic, Comedy Central, Peacock NBC, TLC and the Discovery Channel. He has also shot and graded national commercial spots for brands and organizations like Google, UNICEF, AARP, McDonald’s, Mazda and Disney.
